Information about UC Clermont College CNA degrees, registering in a technical degree program to develop job skills, and taking free practice tests online. Which degrees will give you the best chances of landing a job after you graduate? Some students select a major because it teaches them practical skills that are valuable in the workplace. Other students choose their major because they love the subject. Concentration in a medical field entails a lot of study, but the rewards are equally impressive. Job satisfaction, higher salary, and employment security are excellent incentives. The most popular college major is business, split equally between men and women. On the other hand, men make up the majority of computer science and engineering majors. For women, education, English and liberal arts dominate the list.
You don't have to be enrolled in a degree program to sign up for online courses. Distance education enables students who cannot commute to campus, such as the severely disabled, to have access to accredited courses. Online education can open up the opportunity to take difficult courses that won't show up on your transcript, if you so choose. Alternatively, you can complete additional credits for a grade.
Doing business online is a great option to supplement your income while still a student. By registering a domain name, pointing the name servers to your hosting company, then building an active website via a WordPress template, you're in the game. Similar to magazine page layout, website design success is governed by two factors, visitor traffic and online sales conversions.
Online Courses - MOOCs
There are over 6,500 accredited colleges and universities in the United States, which collectively enroll over 15 million students, granting two million bachelors degrees a year. Pursue your career interests, not high-paying starting salaries, and your overall job earnings will reflect the enthusiasm that you bring to your work, increasing over time as you gain business experience. If you focus your prospective degree choice on salary alone, there is the risk that you may suffer early signs of burnout, and be forced to change careers.
Technical training programs are a low-cost alternative to attending college, and you might end up earning a lot of money as a highly-skilled, technical consultant, or by starting your own small business. Massive Open Online Courses are known as MOOCs, and offer a variety of learning platforms, utilizing cloud-based software and Google apps.
An online degree may be just as marketable as a college degree earned on campus. Udemy online learning, a site which allows anyone to build (or take) online courses, is a new startup with backing from the founders of Groupon. Khan Academy now offers over 3,900 micro-lectures available via YouTube. Coursera, another online-learning software platform, has millions of enrolled students around the world. Through MIT Open Courseware online classes, educators can improve development of their curricula, making their instruction more effective.
Online Tests - Free Practice! This section offers practice tests in a variety of academic subject areas. Each of the following multiple-choice tests has 10 questions to work on. No sign-up required, just straight to the test.

Medical Jobs and NursingIn the field of medical care, the following occupations are ranked in the fastest-growing job categories by the US Bureau of Labor Statistics. EMTs and paramedics respond to emergency calls, performing medical services and transporting patients to medical facilities.
The following medical jobs provide challenging career paths, as well as competitive starting salaries with excellent advancement prospects. Continuing education will be required to keep abreast of the advancements in your chosen field.Respiratory therapists care for patients who have trouble breathing from a chronic respiratory diseases, such as asthma or emphysema. They provide emergency care to patients suffering from heart attacks, stroke, drowning, or shock. Radiation therapists treat cancer and other diseases in patients by giving radiation treatments. Radiologic technologists perform diagnostic imaging examinations, such as x rays, on patients.
If you can pass the rigorous training program, nursing jobs are increasingly available, due to the aging US population, as well as the increased quality of healthcare services. Registered nurses (RN), and licensed vocational nurses (LVN), provide patient care and emotional support to patients. Diagnostic medical sonographers use ultrasound imaging equipment that directs sound waves into a patient’s body, in a procedure commonly known as a sonogram, or echocardiogram, to diagnose medical conditions.
Nursing & Medical Job ListingsEarning a CNA degree (Certified Nursing Assistant) is the first step towards becoming a fully-qualified nurse. Most CNA programs can be completed within a few months, allowing you to join the workforce quickly. The next step in a nursing career is to become a LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) or LVN ( Licensed Vocational Nurse). These are year-long programs, in which you'll work under an RN distributing meds, treating wounds, and providing basic patient care.

In order to become an RN (Registered Nurse), a bachelors degree in nursing is recommended. RN's command a greater salary, and are responsible for an enlarged scope of practice over LPNs and CNAs. Students will receive classroom instruction and clinical training in a hospital setting. A 4-year BSN program allows students to further specialize in the areas of pediatrics, geriatrics and mental health. After completing your nursing education, you must be licensed by the state in which you'll be practicing, given that state boards of nursing each have specific certification requirements.
